The Rowhouse Restaurant prides itself on being a beacon of Topeka History and culture. It's several artists that flank the walls would agree.
"People come in here and often say, I don't feel like i'm in Topeka and I get to say 'Well, you're in Topeka from the ground up," says owner Greg Fox.
That's because the Rowhouse Restaurant is drenched in capital city history.
Not only was Fox born and raised here, the food comes from his roots. The building, built in 1876, seems to demand full tours when visitors come for dinner. And it turns those quiet dinners into private galleries.
"They can sit and actually watch a piece for two hours and usually as you watch, a piece of art evolves," Fox says.
With tender, aged walls, Fox asks artists to hang for three months, alongside his own father's work.
Alissa sheley, one of the artists showing at rowhouse, appreciates the different atmosphere.
It's a coup for the artists and a feast for customers in more ways than one.
