Beverly Dodge Radefeld dabbles in several types of art, but its soft sculpture that has led her through tough times, happy times, and helped others heal.

"If you're talking to women, they're dolls. If you're talking to men, its soft sculpture," Radefeld says.

When faced with tragedy, a friend suggested Beverly use her art to help her through. She created a sculpture called "Mother" to help her cope with her son, Aaron's death from Leukemia.

"It's definitely been a way to cope with grief, but to deal with happy times too. I have a cow [sculpture] that my grandchildren just love," says Radefeld.

And hoping to help others heal, Radefeld started making dolls for KU Medical Center and the young cancer patients there.

"I made dolls where you could remove the hair by ripping velcro. And something about the sound that it made, I don't know, it just really connected with the kids."

She shows several of her paintings and sculptures at Warehouse 414 in Topeka.

You can find Warehouse 414 at 414 SE 2nd Street in Topeka or give them a call at 785-232-8008.
