(Topeka, KS - WIBW) When illness strikes a family their life can change in an instant. That is what happened to the Flanagan's on Father's Day. They learned their father, Randy Flanagan has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Without treatment doctors said he may only have a week or possibly up to a month to live. For the Flanagan's there was no other option. They had to fight it.

Mr. Flanagan was kept in the hospital for additional testing and monitoring. He then began chemotherapy. For Mr. Flanagan the hardest part is not being able to do the activities he loves most, like working out with his son.

"Brandon and I have always been very close," said Mr. Flanagan. Brandon is an athlete and his father loves to work out with him and train him on the sidelines.

Mr. Flanagan's wife, Mary Flanagan has stuck by his side offering him support while keeping up with the couple's two 15 year-old twins and her own job.

Mr. Flanagan's brother Ryan Flanagan knew the family needed support for mounting medical bills and other expenses. He says the idea came to him to have a fundraiser and so he began putting it together.
