Kansas State University officials are still assessing damage from a tornado that tore through campus more than a week ago.

K-State expects an early damage estimate of $27 million to continue to grow. Roofs were ripped off buildings, walls cracked, and university vehicles battered by flying debris.

Facilities director Ed Heptig told the Kansas City Star that some buildings on the campus in Manhattan have yet to be assessed, and some buildings could have unknown structural damage.

Kansas State's Salina campus also sustained more than
a half a million dollars in damage in the June 11th storm.

The Manhattan campus will be ready August 25th for fall classes.
