Sandra DeShazer, Sadie Day, and Venice Mercer have taught for a combined 71 years. Wednesday they will say goodbye and pack up their classrooms for the last time.

Mrs. DeShazer and Mrs. Day are twins. They attended the grade school themselves and met Mrs. Mercer in high school. The three have been best friends and it comes as no surprise that they are exiting at the same time.

"It kind of evolved over the year," said Mrs. Mercer.
"We don't know, who came up with the idea, we came up with it together," said Mrs. Day. Either way all three of them walked into Principal Ed Gerhardt's office and announced they are retiring at the end of the year.

What will they do with their spare time? "I think we're going to get together once a month and do what we do best... eat!" said Mrs. Mercer.

Mrs. Day and Mrs. DeShazer say they still plan to grocery shop together and to spend as much time together as possible.
