Approximately 88 national guardsmen of the 35th Infantry Division were welcomed home Thursday from their deployment to Kosovo during a ceremony in Leavenworth.
"It's always a great day when our soldiers come home," said Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting, the adjutant general. "These soldiers did an outstanding job and we're glad they're all back safe and sound."
Two of the soldiers are a brother and sister team from Topeka. They deployed to the Balkans to maintain peace and security in Kosovo as it developed it's democracy.
When Kosovo announced its independence they had a front row seat and now they're back home...sharing their experiences with the ones they love.
