A horse kicked a 5-year-old Wilsey girl in the head at the family home Tuesday evening.

Morris County Sheriff Scott Coover tells 13 News the accident happened just after six Tuesday, when Heather Munson was in a working horse pen with several horses.

Coover said one of the horses kicked at Heather and struck her in the back of the head.

Coover said his deputies said Heather was conscious and alert when taken to Morris County Hospital.

Morris County Hospital would not release any information on Heather's condition.

Wilsey is about 8 miles west of Council Grove.
