Organizations that help out in the community everyday are showing the United Way campaign chairman what they need to be successful.
Scott Griffith is the United Way of Greater Topeka's 2008 campaign chairman. He started visits to United Way agencies on Monday, and continued with five more today.
Griffith said these visits are opening his eyes to the greater financial need people in the community will be experiencing this year. He says rising prices for items such as fuel will put a strain on everyone.
Last year the United Way raised nearly $6 million in Topeka. This year's campaign kicks off August 27.
