TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The holiday season brings out a lot of good kids, including the student council members at Topeka's Whitson Elementary School.
The students heard how some children living in foster care don't receive stockings Christmas morning, so they partnered with TFI Family Services to make it happen.
Teachers Rita Hinck and Judy Gregar oversaw the project. Hinck says students gathered a variety of items that kids ranging from four-years old up to age 16 might like.
They filled 67 stockings with five or six items each child could use. That's 67 kids who, this year, found a filled stocking Christmas morning.
Hinck says several students commented the project made them feel like they were making a difference.
