Walls Come Down At The Statehouse Rotunda

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--Temporary walls are no longer blocking your view of the Statehouse Rotunda.

Workers spent the day removing temporary walls on the first floor, unsealing the area for the first time in four years.

The renovation of the Capitol's first through fifth floors began in 2001 and is expected to cost $332 million.

The rest of the walls should come down next week. Work on the roof and dome will continue through next fall.

With construction of a new visitors center also just getting underway.
