12-Year-Old Girl Leads Sedgwick County Deputies On Chase


WICHITA, Kan. — Sedgwick County sheriff's deputies were involved in an unusual chase over the weekend, involving a 12-year-old girl.

Just after 5 a.m. Sunday, May 18, someone called 911 to report they were following their black Cadillac Escalade, and that it was being driven by their daughter.

Deputies were dispatched and soon located the SUV near 47th Street and Broadway. They tried to pull it over but the driver refused to stop.

During the chase that followed, deputies learned that the driver was a 12-year-old girl and the pursuit was called off. The Escalade continued to the area of 47th Street South and Kessler, and hit a parked car before stopping about two blocks ahead.

The 12-year-old driver and a 13-year-old passenger were detained and released to the Wichita Police Department. No one was hurt
