TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Safe Streets and Topeka City of Character honored two people as Champions of Character.

The first recipient of the Champion of Character Award is Cathryn Mcwilliams.

Cathryn was nominated by her teenage daughter Kalyssa for demonstrating faith and respect.

Kalyssa says her mom is always doing something no one else can do and she's always faithful to people no matter what.

The second recipient is five year-old Emit Hochstedler.

Little Emit was nominated by his great-grandmother Rosemary Gordon, she suffered a blackout spell and Emit with his quick decisiveness ran to a neighbor's house and got her help.
