TOPEKA -- Four social service agencies have agreed to assist the City of Topeka’s Housing and Neighborhood Development Department and its private partner in distributing 80 fans to Topeka residents who qualify.
The agencies are:
621 SE Swygart
Door Step Inc
1119 SW 10th Avenue
Let’s Help Inc.
200 S Kansas Avenue
1320 SE 6th Street
Topekans interested in acquiring fans are encouraged to call an agency for hours and eligibility determination.
The fans were left over from the 2011 “Project Neighborhood Heat Relief” giveaway that included for the first time a private partner – McElroy’s Inc. Together, the City and McElroy’s purchased and gave away 100 window air conditioners and 20 fans. Eighty fans remained. The total value of the 200 items was $11,288 of which $5644 was donated by McElroy’s and $5644 was Community Development Block Grant-funded.
