TOPEKA -- The Topeka Fire Department and Topeka Fire Fighters Local – 83 will host its annual open house event this coming Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 1:00 till 4:00. The event will be held within the Dillons Plaza parking lot area, located at NW Highway 24 and Rochester Road; you and all of your family, neighbors and friends are invited to attend.
Visitors will be able to view several demonstrations, at the following times:
· Mock first responder – 1:15 & 2:15 p.m.
· Tech rescue team – 1:35 & 2:35 p.m.
· Boomer the arson dog – 1:55 & 2:55 p.m.
· Hazardous materials team – 2:25 & 3:25 p.m.
Also a Fire Safety School, designed to be an interactive learning station where visitors to the Safety House are taught how to stop, drop and roll, and to sound the alarm when the emergency occurs, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m.
There will be excellent opportunities for you to see “your” Topeka Fire Department up close and personal, during non-emergency situations.
