Topeka Students Are Back In School

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-Thousands of Topeka students filled the halls for the first day back to school.

"Okay, you ready? Its the start of school are you excited?," says Principal Williams of McEachron Elementary as he blows the whistle.

Thousands of Topeka students filled the halls for the first day back to school. Children hugged their parents good-bye and sat at their desks anxiously waiting to see what their day holds.

Principals and teachers say they have prepared for this day and they are excited for students to be back in their seats.

"It's my 14th year at McEachron and you know every year is different," says Principal Vic Williams.

"I'm so excited! I got here early. I'll be standing in the hall as they are walking down the hall. They are going to be smiling, I'm going to be smiling, it's just a really exciting day," said McEachron Elementary Kindergarten teacher, Carol Kaufman.

Students couldn't agree more.

"I'm excited as a bunny rabbit, and I can not stop because I really love school!" says McEachron Elementary kindergartner, Abigail Jones.

And with pen and paper in hand, they are prepared to make the grade.
