Topeka St. Patrick's Day Parade Information

The parade is Saturday March 16, 2013 at noon.

From the Topeka Police Department:
PARADE PARTICIPANTS:

PRE-REGISTRATION - May be done on Downtown Topeka Inc.’s website at www.downtowntopekainc.com

STAGING AREA - No early entry into the staging area. Event Day registration will begin at 9:00 am at 1st & Kansas Ave. Parade entries are asked to come in on 1st street from Topeka Blvd. The driver of every float/vehicle will need to produce a valid driver’s license to register. They will be issued a participant ID and it will be scanned by Emergency Management. Parade Registration of all drivers is required before they will be allowed into the staging area.

PARADE ROUTE:

Begin at 4th & Kansas heading southbound on Kansas to 12th Street.

Westbound on 12th to Jackson. Northbound on Jackson to 6th and disburse.

NO PARKING:

For the safety of the public, in accommodating our large crowd, there will be NO PARKING in the staging area, parade route and also the disbandment area as recommended by the Topeka Police Department and Shawnee County Emergency Management. This will be for Saturday March 16th, 2013.

This includes the following streets:

• Kansas Avenue from 1st St to 11th St from 6am-4pm

• Jackson from 5th St to 10th St from 6am until 4pm

• 6th St from Jackson to Harrison from 6am-4pm

• Van Buren from 5th to 7th from 6am-4pm

Vehicles found parked along these streets after 6:00 am Saturday, March 16th will be at risk of being towed.

PUBLIC PARKING:

Perimeter street parking is available.

The following Public Parking Garages and parking lots will allow FREE parking on Saturday March 16th. They will be open from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm:

PARK N SHOP GARAGE - 615 SE QUINCY

TOWNSITE GARAGE - 501 SE MONROE

ENTRANCE ON 5TH AND 6TH STREET

NINTH STREET GARAGE - 215 SE 9TH STREET

CROSBY PLACE GARAGE – 108 SW 8TH STREET (no entry 1100-1500)

900 SE MONROE LOT – LOCATED ON THE CORNER

8TH AND MADISON LOT - LOCATED ON THE CORNER

WATER TOWER LOT - 1121 SE QUINCY

HANDICAP PARKING

Handicap vans/autos/shuttles may come in from the east at 8th and Quincy and unload spectators near 8th & Kansas.

FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE

Topeka Metropolitan Transit Authority will be providing 2 buses and one Para-transit bus at no charge, with continual service from the 8th & Madison parking lot to 8th & Quincy. The buses will run from 10:00 am to 11:45am; with returns from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
