TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Topeka school is putting its own spin on a trend that is happening across the country. Students at Randolph Elementary are doing 26 random acts of kindness throughout the month of February. Their actions are inspired by the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
Each class has pledged to do a particular kind deed. They range from sweeping the steps to writing thank you cards for faculty members.
"You can start where you are as a positive movement and it spreads throughout," said Amy Frazier, a school counselor. "So hopefully this will continue to spread throughout the community. It just takes one spark and it continues."
"One act of kindness can go so far for that one kid," said Eric Patterson, a fifth grade student.
Students are also doing their own individual kind acts. They've decorated the hallways with about 800 paper hearts inscribed with their personal pledges.
