TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man celebrated a big birthday Tuesday.
Aldersgate Village resident Bill Calwell turned 105-years old.
Bill is filled with stories. He says the doctor actually declared him dead at birth because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. He said he was handed over to his grandmother who threw water from a fish tank on him which revived him.
Bill says a long life is likely in his genes. He says both of his parents lived to be 104-years old.
He also remains active. Bill says he still likes to golf, though he usually uses a golf cart to get around the course these days. He boasts 35 titles, dating back to his start in the sport at age 10.
Listen to Bill tell a few of his stories in the attached video.
