TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Stories of historic Topeka cemetery families will soon be available online as part of a preservation campaign.
The Topeka Cemetery Association announced Thursday that they will be teaming up with ASA Marketing Group to develop the website.
The site will act as a fundraising and public relations campaign to raise $3 million, and will allow families to publish obituaries, biographies, and legacies for their loved ones.
Officials hope that the "Honoring Their Life, Preserving The Memories Campaign" will provide financial independence for the cemetery.
"This is not only going to help fund the cemetery over the next several years, it's probably a 3 to 5 year thing, but it will preserve and guarantee that this cemetery, the sacred grounds will be kept forever," said Jim Deines, Chairman of Board for ASA Marketing Group.
Stories will date back to Colonel Cyrus K. Holiday and run through present day.
