TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- The City of Topeka will soon have a new fire station.
Officials dedicated the ground today for the future site of fire station number 13. The station will be built on Southwest Sixth Avenue, just west of Fairlawn on vacant land donated to the city by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth.
Officials say the new station will ease some of their concerns with emergency response times. Construction will begin this September and is expected to end in August 2014.
