November is Lions Diabetes Awareness month with November 14th as World Diabetes Awareness day as proclaimed by Lions Clubs International.
To celebrate this month, the Sunflower Lions Club will hold a STRIDES walk for Diabetes Awareness. The Walk will be Sunday November 6th, beginning at First Christian Church 1880 SW Gage, here in Topeka, at 2:30pm.
Registration will be at 2:00pm in the Fellowship Hall, with a donation of $5 for youth to age 18 and $10 for adults.
A gift Certificate for $25 will be given to the youth that donates the most money. Proceeds will help send youth to Diabetes Camp and help make the public more aware of the complications of Diabetes and ways to manage it.
Some of the ways to manage Diabetes is to exercise at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week and eat healthy foods. There will be healthy foods as snacks at the end of the walk and brochures about diabetes and ways to live with it. Why not come and enjoy the afternoon with us and learn more about diabetes?
