Conceptualize, plan and implement activities to identify and market to potential donors who can provide significant contributions in support of the annual budget, KTWU endowments or capital fundraising efforts. The Associate Director is a newly created position designed to coordinate day-to-day administrative duties, projects and initiatives of the Ranchland Trust of Kansas. The Associate Director is supervised by the Executive Director and works in consultation with the board of directors, committees, and existing staff. Develop and implement marketing strategies for organization. Coordinate fundraising activities, including donor solicitations, grant applications and financial support from other sources. Direct and conduct organizational management functions, including preparations for board and committee meetings, budgeting, and organizational governance policies. Provide support to the board of directors, its officers, and committees. Build and maintain personal relationships with donors and volunteer supporters. Organize meetings and special events. Assist staff with RTK’s program of voluntary land preservation, including the acquisition of conservation easements and associated stewardship and monitoring.
A 4-year degree preferred, in business administration, communications, marketing, agriculture, or a related field and/or experience in resource management, business, non-profit organization management, fundraising, real estate, marketing or a related field. Effective experience with fundraising and management of a non-profit organization. Demonstrated effective and proficient writing skills, with willingness to prepare reports and grant applications. Proficiency with computer applications, including MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and web design software. Possess skills and experience in public speaking, with the ability to represent RTK at public forums or small informal settings. Ability to interact well with a wide variety of people, including agricultural landowners, government officials, donors, private and public conservation groups, media representatives, and the general public. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and have the ability to “multi-task”, while meeting deadlines. Ability to meet the physical demands of this position which include mobility for travel and participation in special events. Possess an understanding and appreciation for private land ownership and the mission of the organization. Ranchland Trust of Kansas (RTK) is a non-profit conservation organization, otherwise known as a land trust, which was founded by the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) in 2003. The purpose of the organization is to “preserve Kansas’ ranching heritage and open spaces for future generations through the conservation of working landscapes.”
Although RTK is affiliated with KLA, it is a stand-alone organization with its own articles of incorporation, bylaws, budget, and board of directors.
