Stamps Prices To Rise In Early 2013

Topeka, Kan. (WIBW) - It will soon cost you another penny to send a letter.

The cost of a stamp is set to rise to 46 cents beginning January 27th, 2013 from the current 45 cents.

The United States Post Office is set to lose a record $15 billion this year. They have raised the price of a stamp five times since 2006, from 39 cents to 46 cents.

Forever stamps are still good for first class postage but will go up once the new prices are put into place.

A postcard will cost 33 cents to mail. Priority mail prices also went up. A small box will be $5.80, a medium box will be $12.35 and a large box will cost $16.85. A regular envelope priority mail will cost $5.60, a legal envelope will be $5.75 and a padded envelope will be $5.95.
