TOPEKA -- Shawnee County employees are helping support Project Topeka through their can sculpture contest. Teams made up of people from different departments, were asked to design and build sculptures with non-perishable food items collected by the department teams.
all food items are being donated to Project Topeka for its 2011 campaign.
They were all given one month to collect food and construct their creations. Entries were voted on by three judges made up of two Shawnee County staff members (one from the appraiser's office, and one from the county counselor's office) along with a representative of Project Topeka. Nine entries were submitted, in three different size categories. The winners are:
Small Category -- 1st Place, Health Agency, Environmental Health
Medium Category -- 1st, Health Agency, Community Health Center
Large Category -- 1st Place, Health Agency WIC/Immunizations Dept.
Each first place winner received a traveling trophy, donated by Westside Stamps and Awards. Congratulations to all!
