TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- The Shawnee County Sheriff's office is "starting to recruit" members early, very early!
Local kids are participating in the Sheriff's Office 7th annual Summer Youth Academy this week.
The goal of the camp is to create positive interaction between local law enforcement and kids.
The curriculum includes teamwork activities, physical fitness and general law enforcement information.
The camp will emphasize good decision making skills and citizenship and runs through Friday June 13th.
Another camp will run from June 16th to the 20th, 8 a.m. to noon at Shawnee Heights High School.
