Elizabeth Ensley Deiter Resignation Letter
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County Elections Commissioner Elizabeth Ensley Deiter gave official notice of her resignation from the office.
She sent a letter to Shawnee County Commissioners on Friday, revealing her last day will be September 14th.
Gov. Sam Brownback appointed Ensley Deiter to the magistrate judge position in Doniphan County on August 17th. She will replace her husband, who stepped down two months ago for health reasons.
Ensley Deiter served as Shawnee County's Elections Commissioner since 1992. In her letter, she details the accomplishments made over that time and the tasks the new commissioner will face. She also said she was glad she was able to lead the staff through the primary election, the first election with new voter identification standards, consolidated voting places and redistricting of state offices.
"It has been a pleasure working with all of you, and I shall miss everyone," she wrote. Ensley-Deiter's complete letter is attached.
