TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County District Court has reassigned all duties of one its pro tem judges, following his weekend arrest on an aggravated battery charge.
Bruce Harrington was booked into jail around 12:45 am Sunday. He was released on $5,000 bond about 10 hours later.
Harrington runs a law office at 1243 SW Topeka Boulevard. He was the attorney for the owners of Hot Pockets bar when they tested the city's indoor smoking ban ordinance. Harrington also represented former Shawnee County Treasurer Larry Wilson during an investigation into whether to pursue an ouster petition.
Shawnee Co. District Court officials say Harrington served as a judge pro tem, assisting with limited actions, small claims and eviction hearings. They say his duties are reassigned while the investigation continues.
He is due back in court for a docket hearing July 31st.
