TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- You'll have a better view of the Kansas Capitol's shiny new rooftop in the coming weeks.

Crews started work removing the scaffolding that has become a part of the downtown skyline for the last few years.

We're told it will take 2 to 3 weeks to completely unveil the Statehouse. You'll start seeing more of the newly installed copper dome and roof lines.

The copper color will bronze over the next year, but won't return to the green patina we're used to for several decades..

The Statehouse renovation project started in 2001 and has cost more than $330 million.
