TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The efforts of two Topeka companies added up to big help for a local organization.

Advisors Excel, Security Benefit and se2 presented a check for more than $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Topeka. The money was raised from the companies' first-ever Run for the Money 5k. The September 29 event attracted around 80 participants.

“We’re glad to be a part of something special,” said Cody Foster, one of the founders of Advisors Excel.

Foster says the company chose Big Brothers Big Sisters because of its work to mentor young people.

“This check means so much to our agency and the children in our community. We depend on our donors and our community to help children reach their full potential," said Nancy Daniels, Executive Director for the agency.
