TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The end of the school year brings the end of the career for three noted USD 501 educators and board members.
The Topeka Public School District hosted a farewell reception Thursday evening for three outgoing board of education members. Longtime Topeka High School Principal and board member Ned Nussbaum was among them. Hal Gardner and Doug Glenn also are leaving the board.
For Nussbaum, it caps a total 51 years with Topeka Public Schools. He says he'll miss the relationships the most. Nussbaum says assisting with the transition from junior highs to middle schools and seeing the resolution of the Brown v. Board case were among his proudest accomplishments.
Nussbaum says he is "retiring from retiring," with plans to travel and assist in a volunteer capacity as needed.
