TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Mulvane Art Museum had two reasons to celebrate Friday night.
Art lovers gathered to celebrate the museum being re-accredited by the American Association of Museums. Washburn President Dr. Jerry Farley described it as a symbol of excellence and accountability to the community. He says only about 800 of the 17,000 museums in the country have the recognition.
The museum also kicked off the "Paint Washburn" exhibit. On a Aaturday last spring, nearly three-dozen artists came to campus to paint various scenes. The result is on display.
The paintings will be auctioned in November as a fundraiser for the museum.
