TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Monroe Lockhart III was given back-to-back life sentences for a pair of murders committed nearly a dozen years apart.
Because he will be eligible for parole after 25 years and his second sentence won't start until the first one ends, he will have to serve at least fifty years behind bars.
Lockhart had pleaded guilty to first degree murder for the January 2012 killing of his friend and business partner Corey Brown. He also pleaded guilty to the Valentine's Day shooting of 25 year-old Damon Anderson.
Lockhart is already locked up for 10 years for an unrelated violent home invasion in 2011.
