TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Students at one local middle school were encouraged to cheer or boo during a dramatic presentation.
The Lecompton Reenactors portrayed famous Kansas characters from the Bleeding Kansas era at Washburn Rural Middle School.
The students experienced a dramatic presentation of an 1850's town hall meeting.
The characters brought to life were both pro slavery and free state.
The cheering and booing at the mock town hall meeting gave the students a first hand experience of the conflict and turmoil of that time.
