TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- You now have a clear view of the newly re-furbished Kansas Capitol Dome.
The last of the scaffolding encasing the structure came down over the weekend. Crews replaced all the copper. Project officials say it will darken into a bronze over the next year.
The green patina we'd been used to, isn't expected for several decades.
The dome work is part of the larger Statehouse renovation project that began in 2001.
A final piece, a new visitor center, should finish in January.
