Kansas Crime Victims Receive Financial Assistance

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- 231 crime victims received financial assistance from the Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board.

During its March meeting, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said the awards were presented to 115 new cases.

Additional expenses were paid to 116 previously submitted cases, which totaled over $279,410.53.

The Crime Victims Compensation program was established in 1978 to help victims of violent crime pay for unexpected expenses such as medical treatment and funeral expenses.
