LAWRENCE -- There are some new additions this weekend on Lawrence's arts events known as "Final Friday."

There are several new venues and a couple of special events planned for this Friday, March 25th, notably the addition of two extraordinary musical performances at The Eldridge Hotel and the Hobbs Taylor Lofts.

Lawrence is a sports town as well as an arts town-you would be hard pressed to find an artist or gallerist not also planning for the tournament game on Friday-so many venues are adjusting their schedules to be open early, or adding spots to watch the game amidst the art walk. Get downtown early to view the work of over 250 artists, and grab some food and drinks to cheer on the Jayhawks!

Strecker Nelson Gallery has begun furnishing shows at Pachamama's Restaurant, and will host a closing party for works by Jane Booth. Pachamama's is a new venue for Final Fridays.

The Eldridge has changed the time of the Genaro Mendez and Charles Badami Crystal Ballroom performance to 5 p.m., ending at 6:30. They will be showing the game in the Jayhawker Bar after the performance.

The Lawrence Arts Center has added a blues band performance, and a showing of prints by Patrick Giroux in the Hallmark Print Gallery downstairs.

The Lawrence Percolator will be a very kid-friendly and hands-on art show in which artist and engineer, Eric Farnsworth, will begin construction of a cardboard creature. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the project that will culminate in a parade of the sculpture on April 1st.

Almost all venues will be open at 5:00. Many FF art venues will be showing the game including Teller's Bar, The Eldridge (Jayhawker), Pachamama's and Henry's on 8th.
