TOPEKA -- The City of Topeka Housing and Neighborhood Development Department will accept applications for the Homeless Prevention & Rapid Re-housing program starting at 8:30am. They will look over the paperwork of the first 100 applicants on Wednesday, October 27th, at the City’s Holliday Building, 620 SE Madison, 1st Floor.
This program will prevent homelessness due to unpaid utility bills.
Applicants can not be homeowners, must live within the city limits of Topeka and must have incomes at 50% of the median family gross annual income or below:

2 Person household $24,600
3 Person household $27,700
4 Person household $30,750
5 Person household $33,250
6 Person household $35,700
7 Person household $38,150
8 Person household $40,600
Applicants will be asked to:
Submit an application with proof of household income for the past 60 days, photo ID and social security cards for all household members.
Provide documentation of utility disconnect notice and lease agreement.
All adults must attend, all units will be inspected.
Section 8, Public Housing and Shelter + Care recipients do not qualify.
