Home Invasion Sparks Warning About Strangers At Your Door

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A home invasion attempt has authorities issuing an alert about strangers knocking at your door.

The Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office says that, at around 8:30 am Wednesday, a woman reported that a man knocked came to her door in the 1800 block of SW Stutley Rd., claiming he worked for a gun recall company. The victim says the man asked if her husband had recently purchased a gun, then pulled out a gun himself and forced his way inside the home.

The woman was able to get away and run to a neighbor's home for help.

Witnesses told authorities they saw a small, late model four-door vehicle, possibly a Ford Focus, silver or grey in color, speeding away from the area. The suspect is described as a white man in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5’8” tall, with dark brown hair and a thin build. He was wearing a tool belt.
