Holton Says Yes to School Bond, Lyndon Votes No

(WIBW) - Voters hit the polls in two school districts Tuesday with very different results.

Residents in the Holton school district voted in favor of a $21.5 million bond. It will fund construction of a new elementary school to replace both Colorado and Central elementary schools.

The final tally had 934 people voting yes with 756 voting no. Jackson County election officials say 43 percent of eligible voters cast ballots.

Turnout in the Lyndon school district was nearly 50 percent. Voters there struck down a proposed $12.3 million bond issue. Their tally was 198 yes votes against 615 no votes.

The money would have made way for new classrooms, parking lot, football field and storm shelter.
