TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__With summer sales on the horizon, car dealerships are pushing to sell new and used vehicles to prospective owners, but Friday morning's weather might make it a hail sale instead.
While plenty of people were busy gauging the size of hail that may have landed near their home in the early morning hours, Sharp Honda General Manager Steve Matukewicz's mind was racing.
Steve said, "I'm thinking what cars do we have, where are they, how bad is the damage, and what is the insurance adjuster going to say?Are the sales people are wondering if they should show up? Advertising has to stop because we are shut down. It is just a lot of calls and its stressful."
While small and hard to see to the untrained eye, hail damage can cause nightmares for dealership owners, but it could make it easier for customers to find the car of their dreams for a sweet deal.
Steve says, "You can probably get a new car for the price of a used car right now. The damage is pretty small but it's consistent and on a new car. We will have to slash prices below the sale prices we are at."
Despite the gloomy weather, Steve is optimistic. "We always sell them all and people are excited that they have received a great price. It's just a little stressful right now," said Steve.
The Sharp Honda Tent Sale at West Ridge Mall will be cancelled through Sunday, but will be back up and running on Monday.
