TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Old Glory and simple flower arrangements were some of the ways veterans' families in Topeka are remembering their fallen love ones.
American Flags and flowers decorated the graves of veterans at the Historic Topeka Cemetery.
The cemetery is the oldest chartered cemetery in Kansas dating back to 1859.
There are more than 1300 Civil War veterans buried on the grounds.
Along with 26 World War I veterans who died in service.
On Memorial Day, Topeka Cemetery will have a wreath laying and commemoration ceremony starting at 11 am.
