NAMI Kansas, Valeo Behavioral Health and Breakthrough House are teaming up to mark Mental Illness Awareness Week in Topeka. A series of events will draw attention the issue as well as resources available for people to get help.

All Month - Creations of Hope: An Exhibition for Artists Experiencing Mental Illness- Opening Reception. The Upstage Gallery, 720 Jackson.
Monday, 10/8 In Our Own Voice Presentation- A unique public education program by NAMI. Jo Ann Howley & Donna Robinson share compelling personal stories about living with mental illness and achieving recovery. Valeo Behavioral Health Care, 330 SW Oakley Lower Level Conference Room. 6:30pm
Tuesday, 10/9 National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness, Recovery and Understanding- Faith Lutheran Church, 17th and Gage. 6:30 pm
Wednesday, 10/10 Movie Screening “Depression—Out of the Shadows”- PBS Video with commentary provided by Jane Pauley. Topeka Shawnee County Public Library, Marvin Auditorium. 6:30pm
Thursday, 10/11 National Depression Screening Day- Free mental health screens co-sponsored by Valeo Behavioral Health Care, Family Service & Guidance Center, Stormont Vail Behavioral HealthCare, NAMI Topeka, and DBSA Topeka. Valeo Behavioral Health Care, 330 SW Oakley, 2nd Floor. 1-4:30pm
