TOPEKA -- This week's extremely cold weather is forcing organizers of the ERC's Bare Bones Preview to delay the opening of the event until February 10th through 12th. Director Reva Wywadis says the feaetured home address is 3709 Southwest King Forest Road. The home was set for its preview this weekend until the winter storm hit Northeast Kansas this week.
The famed chili feed with celebrity servers is now scheduled for 5:00 on Friday, February 11th at the home.
The ERC Designer's Showhouse is a more than 30 year-long Topeka tradition. A local home is chosen and redone, with the talents of local interior designers and craftsmen to raise funds for the non-profit organization. In February before the real work begins, the ERC holds these public tours so people can see the home before the work gets underway. There's also a white elephant sale (basically a large garage sale) and the chili supper as part of the preview.
This year, ERC is also holding a rare design contest where someone from the area will have the chance to make-over one of the rooms of the home.
Everywoman's Resource Center is a social service agency helping families find child care. They also help train child care providers for the high-quality care of our Kansas kids. This crucial fundraiser helps keep ERC's doors open, so the group can provide this much needed community service.
