DOVER, Kan. (WIBW) - Community members in Dover relished a chili supper and the chance to recognize their fire chief Bill Ossmann for his 18 years of service.

Ossmann had to give up his role as chief of Shawnee County Fire District No. 4, after he was appointed Shawnee County court judge last August.

Members of the fire department presented him with a special memento, a carved bear in a firefighter outfit and a signed helmet.

New chief of the all-volunteer fire department is Dirk Christian who last served as Deputy Chief at the Mission Township fire department.
