Trash Truck Dumps Burning Garbage In Montara Street

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW-TV) -- Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire from a trash truck that was dumped into a Topeka street early Wednesday.

Shawnee County Dispatch tells 13 News that the fire was reported around 5:25 a.m. Wednesday morning in the area of Southwest Montara Parkway and Southwest Gary Ormsby Drive in Southwest Topeka.

They said someone alerted the driver that the trash was on fire. The driver then drove out and dumped the fiery trash in the street.

Dispatch said Shawnee Heights Fire Fighters had the blaze out around 5:50 a.m. There were no injuries or damage reported.

As of 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning public works is in the process of cleaning up the mess.
