TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County will solicit bids on a cheaper option to fix a sidewalk in a local park that needs a face lift.
Commissioners voted unanimously Monday morning to opt for $7,000 in sidewalk improvements at Shunga Glen Park on Washburn Avenue.
The city of Topeka gave final notice to the county to repair the sidewalk.
Parks Director Terry Bertels originally asked last week for $33,000 for the project, but commissioner Bob Archer questioned the cost when only 33 of the 222 squares along the stretch needed to be replaced.
Bertels returned with the less expensive alternative.
