TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Shawnee County Commissioners are allowing a Topeka golf course to remain open for six more months.
Commissioners voted unanimously to allow Forbes Golf Course to remain open at the request of Parks and Recreation Director John Knight.
In his proposal, Knight said Lake Shawnee Golf Management would operate the clubhouse and play at Forbes Golf Course through June 30th.
The extension will provide additional time to explore partnerships, review existing fees and explore reducing maintenance standards for the course.
Knight said there are sufficient funds in the parks and recreation budget for the extension.
