TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A Topeka man is calling for a boycott of a local coffee shop, claiming they discriminated against him because of his race.
But the owner of the Classic Bean says there's more to the story.
Juliann Earl showed 13 News surveillance video that she says shows Greg Miller becoming upset and yelling at workers when she asked him to leave her Fairlawn Plaza location this week.
After the incident, Miller posted a status on his Facebook page, which began, "Attention: NO LONGER WILL I EVER SUPPORT CLASSIC BEAN IN TOPEKA, KS."
Miller's post went on to say that he minds his own business and makes purchases, but, this week, staff asked him to leave for no reason.
"I was disrespected, humiliated, and discriminated against," Miller wrote.
Earl says Miller brought in his own energy drinks, which violates posted policy, so she approached him and asked him to go outside.
"You can't bring a steak into a steakhouse and you can't bring energy drinks into a coffee house without making other purchases," Earl said.
Miller says he's been going to the business more than a year and was never approached before with any concerns.
