TOPEKA CITY HALL -- The City of Topeka's Forestry Division announced its three drop-off locations Thursday.. offering these Christmas tree recycling locations free to the public.
* The Biomass Yard Material Recycling Facility,
just northeast of I-70 and MacVicar
* Crestview Community Center, 4801 SW Shunga Drive
* Oakland Community Center, 801 NE Poplar
The recycling facility is open 8:00am till 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and from 8am to noon on Saturday through the winter. Christmas trees can be dropped off at the community centers during daylight hours in the designated areas in the parking lot.
Trees must be completely bare of all ornaments, tinsel and other decorations, and must not be wrapped in a bag. "All we are taking is the tree," said Adam Moser, City Forester.
Trees will be accepted at all three locations from December 26 through January 31. For more information call the Forestry Division at 368-3838.
