TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The City of Topeka has given final notice to Shawnee County to repair the Shunga Glen park sidewalk.
Director of Parks Terry Bertels told commissioners Monday he first received a notification on November 6, 2012. Commissioner Kevin Cook asked Bertels why they would wait until the 11th hour to bring items like this to the commission. Bertels said crews began working on specifications last year but things popped up that distracted them from the project.
Parks and Rec has asked for $33,000 to replace the sidewalk.
Commissioner Bob Archer asked for further details about the cost. He said he walked the stretch in question and found only 33 of the 222 sidewalk squares in the stretch that were marked for replacement.
Commissioners deferred the issue to next week.
